WRITER

Once upon a time I did a Masters degree in Screenwriting and that unlocked the whole world of storytelling for me.

When I first started writing screenplays (and it’s not like you decide these things) I noticed I was writing child lead characters and seeing stories through their eyes, probably because I’m a big kid myself. Another element that fires me up is world-building, starting from nothing and populating a reality with its own rules and history. Love that.

It so follows that these two elements lend themselves well to writing books for children and young adults, something I’ve been exploring with great vigour and zest. I think if you find yourself doing anything with great vigour and zest then you should keep on doing it, so I am. Most recently, I completed an MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University, which I passed with distinction 🐯✌️

In writing for the screen, I enjoy collaboration, and am equally at home in a ‘writer’s room’ setting or working alone. I’ve worked with US Director Mark Anthony Galluzzo on three feature film screenplays and each demonstrate my appetite for world-building. Galluzzo not only has the best name I’ve ever heard, he’s also been an incredible collaborator and I’m so proud of our work.
